Russia Projects Drop in 2025 Gas Production
According to the ministry’s outlook on Russia’s socio-economic development for 2026 and the planned 2027-2028 period, gas output will decrease to 680.2 billion cubic meters (BCM) next year.
However, the projection indicates a rebound with a 1.5 percent rise in 2026, bringing production up to 690.4 BCM. The upward trend continues with a 3.2 percent increase in 2027, reaching 712.8 BCM, and a further 3.8 percent surge in 2028 to 739.9 BCM, the forecast revealed.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports are also expected to grow by 3.2 percent in 2025, climbing to 35.7 million tons, followed by a sharp 12.9 percent increase in 2026 to 40.3 million tons.
The ministry’s baseline forecast projects LNG exports will hit 40.3 million tons in 2026 and 46.9 million tons in 2027. Meanwhile, a more conservative forecast estimates LNG shipments at 37.7 million tons in 2026 and 40.3 million tons in 2027.
