Rallies take place all over Europe after Israel attack on Flotilla
Hundreds of people, consisting of students and grassroots union members, assembled at Piazza dei Cinquecento outside Rome's Termini Station.
The demonstrators disrupted the area by blocking traffic in both the square and the streets surrounding it, all while shouting catchphrases such as "Let’s block everything for the Flotilla and for Palestine."
Police shut down several metro stations and limited passenger access to Termini Station. Demonstrators were prepared to move toward Piazza Barberini, expecting about a thousand protesters.
The Italian trade unions, Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) as well as Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro (CGIL), issued a call for a nationwide general strike to take place on the 3rd of October.
Several hundred people assembled outside the Israeli consulate in Barcelona to protest the intervention and express their support for Gaza.
Similar protests occurred in other European cities and dozens gathered at Central Station in Berlin to protest the Israeli attack, while demonstrators in Brussels marched from Place de la Bourse toward the Belgian Foreign Ministry.
