Militant attacks kill six soldiers in northwestern Pakistan

(MENAFN) At least six Pakistani soldiers were killed and two others injured in militant attacks in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to local authorities.

The assaults took place late Monday afternoon in the Manato area of Kurram district. A police official at the district emergency control room reported, “We have received reports that six soldiers were martyred and two others injured, while a dozen militants were also killed,” adding that the military has cordoned off the area and police have not yet been able to reach the site.

Security forces also killed a local militant commander identified as Usman Khyberi. The military has not yet released an official statement regarding the attacks on its personnel near the Afghan border.

The southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been repeatedly targeted by militants, reflecting a broader surge in such attacks across the region in recent years.
